Belturbet Railway Station Photoshoot

Background to the Vintage Charity Calendar

The calendar is the brainchild of local vintage enthusiast and stylist, Pearl Dickson. Native of Shercock, Co. Cavan, Pearl has over recent years offered her expertise as a vintage stylist through her Facebook page 'Miss Ellie'.

While Pearl secured locations and asked very kind locals to model, I researched the locations from a photography point of view along with techniques to provide the finished aged looks for the photographs.

It was very important to Pearl that the photographs featured in the calendar would look like they were 'of the era' through use of sepia toning and other ageing techniques.

With over 120 faces of the great and the good of Co.Cavan and Co.Monaghan to capture Julie was delighted when Virginia based photographer, Janet Redmond agreed to come on board to help with the shoots.

Along with the beautiful Belturbet Railway Station featured in the video above; other locations to feature in the calendar are Cabra Castle, Castle Leslie, Hilton Park, The Errigal Hotel, Dun a Rí forest park and an authentic Speakeasy somewhere outside Cootehill.

Vintage cars provided by Breffni Vintage Club will also feature heavily in the calendar along with talented local sports stars.

The calendar will be launched in September at a Vintage party in Shercock and all monies raised from sales of the calendar will go to IODP Belarus (International Orphan Development Programme).

IODP - Belarus

IODP was founded in May 1998 by Shercock native, Tom McEnaney. Projects to date have included the installation of 60 playgrounds and libraries, the development of 6 fully functioning farms, the renovation of 11 institutions and the annual facilitation of visits from Santa Claus to the orphans.

There will be more updates and behind the scenes footage as the launch date approaches - so remember to subscribe and keep up to date.
