Invitation To My Exhibition This Friday

I’ve printed 100 ‘Ní Bean Í Seo’ postcards to coincide with the launch of my exhibition, ‘Looking for Light’ opening this Friday 22nd October, Solas Gallery Leitrim. The postcards will be available from the gallery.

Looking for Light Exhibition

‘Looking for Light’ opens 7.30pm this Friday, 22nd October 2021 at Solas Gallery, Ballinamore, Leitrim.

You’re invited! The event will be open to the public, but please check out the Solas Gallery website for attendance details and safety protocols.

“The issues I’m most passionate about are the treatment and perception of women in social, cultural and political contexts. I utilise strong visuals to deliver a message of empowerment. Particularly in relation to gender and identity; challenging the misogynist’s agenda, championing the power of self-belief”

With nearly thirty works, this is Julie’s largest solo exhibition to date with pieces printed on paper and other materials like voile fabric;

“I wanted to bring an installation feel to the exhibition; experimenting with the materials I print my work on - incorporating their properties into the finished piece, displaying them in such a way as to bring the viewer on a visual journey of self discovery”

Special Guest Opening the Exhibition - Dara MacGabhann

The exhibition will be opened by singer/songwriter, Dara MacGabhann. Dara is based on the Cavan/Monaghan border. She has released multiple albums and worked in collaboration with musicians Charlie McGettigan and Tommy Keyes to name but a few. Dara is also one half of jazz duo, The Two Fives Ones, with Andy Hogg.
