Last night, after finishing a new conceptual piece I threw up a quick story on Instagram showing my initial sketches alongside the finished image.
I got great feedback including a suggestion to share my sketches more often.
I know the hours of planning that goes into developing my initial concepts for an image, but I don’t often tell you about it. I just assumed you knew.
My signature style demands I photograph every element I include in my work. How and why I photograph a subject all feeds into my art practice, I love blending digital pixels with organic textures, playing with focus and adding depth through an absence or presence of light. I love the feel of the conceptual piece printed on textured archival paper with deckled edge and the finished look once it’s displayed; float mounted in a black frame behind clarity glass.
But it all has to start somewhere and my notebook is that place. I’ll share some more sketches until you improve on your mind reading skills.
